In 1958, Charles W. Weaver and his father, Luke S. Weaver founded Charles W. Weaver, Inc., a residential masonry contracting firm based in Lancaster County, PA. Established on sound morals and impeccable business ethics, three generations of the Weaver family have guided the company to meet the changing demands of the construction industry. Adhering to the values set down by its founders, Weaver Masonry found success as one of the industry's leaders.
Following the untimely death of his father, Charles, Gary Weaver became the sole owner of the masonry company, changing the name to Weaver Masonry, Inc. Gary ran the company for several years eventually deciding in 2012 to sell the masonry side of the business and focus his attention on his precast company.
As the news of the impending sale spread, Nevin Weaver, who was currently employed by Weaver Masonry, Inc. as the Field Supervisor, began to consider the possibility of purchasing the company himself. Having worked for Weaver Masonry, Inc. for over 35 years, he was certain he could make the leap from Field Supervisor to Owner, and he did just that.
In February 2013, Nevin became the sole owner of N R Weaver Masonry, LLC.
NRWM hit the ground running, with several projects of it's own and tasked with the job of finishing Weaver Masonry's jobs.
Nevin brought his uncle, Lloyd Weaver, out of retirement to help estimate. Originally thinking he would only need 20 employees from the former company to get started, Nevin ended up hiring 35 due to the large amount of work already awarded.
Settling into ownership seamlessly, Nevin started learning the ropes of estimating and all the other aspects of running a small business.
Often asked why he chose to purchase the company, Nevin responds, "I wanted to keep my Grandfather's company in the Weaver family and ensure that the history and reputation of quality work and craftsmanship would continue." Nevin also struggled with the knowledge that if he didn't purchase the company there would be dozens of good men without a job and that weighed heavily on him.
In June 2014, NRWM moved out the home they had known for many years, into a bigger and better equipped facility. The move allowed NRWM to have more office space, increased outdoor space for storage of equipment and material, and a substantially larger garage space. The move has allowed plenty of room for the company to continue it's growth, which is what Nevin had envisioned from day one.
N R Weaver Masonry has completed some spectacular projects (please click here to see some of our projects), which include, a car dealership, retirement facilities, college dorms, churches, medical offices, and many more commercial jobs.
While the company has changed hands and names over the last 50+ years, one thing has stayed the same, the desire and commitment to do outstanding, quality work, that NRWM can be proud of for years to come.
It's been a few years since Nevin hung his hat up as Field Supervisor and took the leap to becoming a business owner, and while it's come with it's challenges, he is thankful everyday that he made the jump!
